Hi, I just got a new laptop. How in the world do I copy the songs from my mp3 player onto my media library? In XP, I could go to control panel and just copy them in. Now when I try that, it doesn't work. I'm not having any luck in Windows Media player either. Also, how do I sync files to my player once I get them into my library? I used to just use my Applications key and it'd say add to sync list. Now, I can't seem to find that option. Any tips? The more detailed the better. Thanks
I posted a topic here on Windows media player. First read it. I'll post exact directions if you need them after you read that post. Post when you do. It's under geeks.
Hi, I found your post. I should've mentioned that I used the Help topic in WMP last night. Where is the section for screen reader users? I tabbed through the entire help section and couldn't find it!! And like you said, the general Help Section isn't that helpful.
Thanks
I'll post exact instructions. I have to write them so they go point by point, so give me a bit. The help section doesn't have any directions for screen reader users. Only the keystrokes section is helpful. I do think that it gives you an over view of what the player can do, and it does tell you how to do things, but not with your screen reader. That requires you know it well so that you can play with the application. Generally when you first dconnect your divice 7 loads the drivers necessary for it, if available. Next you open your player and creat the partnership. You had to do this with XP as well, and its not different. 7 has a sink program as well, but Windows Media player does its own. If you set your player up you should be able to do it the same. I'll post.
You know I really don't like the tone of my post. Smile. I don't mean it negative. I was just writing out my thoughts as they came. It is truly not difficult and if you have done it once you have a good start on it. Wanted to soften my post. It just is to stiff.Smile
No offense taken. When I had my old laptop, I'd press enter for an artist, and find the track I wanted. Then I'd press the applications key. Should I use the Windows Media Player's own sync program? I'll try that and see what happens.
Thanks, if that doesn't work I'll repost, probably in a really ticked-off mood. Lol. I hate it when my technology doesn't work the way I want it too.
Don't get pissed off. You'll have to take a shower, and that waste time. New things require patients. Also if you need more please ask.
Okay. First let me say this is not a complete how to, because Windows 7 had more ways to sync devices. I am assuming much here and not starting from the starting point.
You already have the correct type files on your device, and it is windows compatible, because you used it with XP. Connect it up. Windows will say it is loading the drivers, and will tell you when this process is complete. If you have done this already, this time a dialogue box will open asking you what you want to do. Example, view files using Windows explorer, and such things. Close it. The choice might be there for media player, but I have no idea how your system is setup.
Okay open your player. Tab until you find sync button and hit inter. Now the sync tab is active. Tab until you find the library, or control tab over. In the library you’ll find play list music videos and such arrow down that list until you find your player. If you named it you’ll recognize it by that name, if to you’ll know it by it brand. I can’t say this, because I don’t know how you labeled it. Press the right arrow to open it, then arrow down. Arrow again and you’ll find sync status. Click it. Now you’ll find options to set up the partnership if need be. If you don’t click sync status and keep going you’ll find the files on the player. It will say music, video, or whatever depending on your type of player. On each title you leave it there and tab twice to see that list.
Now we have the partnership setup. Your files have synced. Now what if you just want to add new tracks to the player? Connect it up. Tab and find the sync button and click it. Now go to your library and find the files you want to sync. Example, Forereel’s latest song. Arrow to that file then hit the applications key. Arrow until you fined “add to”. Right arrow to open the dialogue and arrow down to sync list and hit inter. Keep doing this until you have all you want. Next tab and you’ll find your list. You might have to use control tab to move over, but just tabbing should show you that list. You’ll also find options to change the order the sync list will sync in, but that’s a completely different subject. Smile.
Arrow until you find “start sync and you got it! In the previous post on Media player, I explained how to learn the shortcut keystrokes for using your player, so that should help as well.
